All FFXIV Dawntrail Kozama’uka Aether Current locations

You need to unlock flying by visiting the Kozama’uka Aether Currents locations before you can ride your favourite flying mounts through the skies of one of the first zones in Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail.

Though you can collect a good portion of the Aether Currents in Kozama’uka as you work through the story, you’ll need to complete specific main quests and side quests to get the lot. Do this as you wrap up the zone, or once you’re done with the MSQ as a whole for some easy XP on a second class.

Kozama’uka Aether Currents quests

You’ll need to complete the following quests to get the remaining Aether Currents in Kozama’uka:

  • Rite of the Wind’s Chosen | Side-quest (clear MSQ “Knowing the Hanuhanu” to unlock)
  • Ripe for the Offering | Side-quest (clear MSQ “Knowing the Hanuhanu” to unlock)
  • All Good Potpacts Must Come to an End | Side-quest (clear MSQ “The Shape of Peace” to unlock)
  • Divine Inspiration | Side-quest (clear MSQ “The Shape of Peace” to unlock)
  • Sibling Rescue | MSQ

You won’t have to think too much about when to pick these up. Each set unlocks as you complete the main scenario quest chain that starts in that half of the map.

What are Aether Currents?

Aether Currents are collectibles you’ll find in each major zone from Heavensward onward. Collect the lot to unlock the ability to fly mounts in that specific zone.

Though most are collected out in the field, side-quests and main story quests reward the rest of the Aether Currents you’ll need to unlock flying in a zone.

It’s largely believed that the aether current system is in place to slow down the potential rapid consumption of expansion content. The main quests guide you along a specific path through a zone, encouraging you to take in the sights and sounds of each new location—aspects you might otherwise skip over due to the conveniences of flight.
